The City of Los Alamitos Recreation & Community Services Department, in collaboration with the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Commission, is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated 11th Annual Weekend of Art. Scheduled for March 27-28 at the Los Alamitos Community Center (located at 10911 Oak St., Los Alamitos, CA 90720), this event promises to be a vibrant celebration of artistic expression that the entire community can enjoy.

A Hub of Creativity for All Ages

The Weekend of Art isn’t just for seasoned artists; it’s an inclusive event designed for individuals of all ages and artistic backgrounds. Whether you’re a budding young artist or an experienced creator, this event welcomes everyone. On Friday, March 27, the exhibition opens from 5:00-8:00 p.m., followed by a full day of activities on Saturday, March 28, from 12:00-7:00 p.m. You can explore a diverse array of artwork, participate in children’s art activities, or browse various arts and crafts booths. Live performances will add an exciting dynamic to the event, creating a true festival atmosphere.

Awards that Celebrate Artistic Talent

One of the highlights of the Weekend of Art is the awards ceremony scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at 6:00 p.m. This event recognizes outstanding artists across different divisions. The awards include the prestigious Mayor’s Award, Commissioner’s Award, People’s Choice Award, and more. Additionally, high school students can compete for art scholarships of $300 each—a fantastic opportunity for budding talent. Categories are separated by age and medium, ensuring that everyone has a chance to shine.

Exciting Categories for Competition

Participants can submit their works in numerous categories, ensuring a wide-ranging representation of artistic talent. The competition is divided into two-dimensional and three-dimensional awards, encompassing several age divisions: from Pre-K to older adults (60+). Each category will recognize 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, accompanied by gift cards to the renowned Art Supply Warehouse in Westminster. First-place winners can look forward to a $100 gift card, second-place winners will receive $50, and third-place winners will earn $25.
