Title: Groovy Good Times: A 1960s Celebration Gala for a Noble Cause in Newport Beach
There’s something truly special about stepping into a different time and place, especially when it’s all for a good cause. The CASA of Orange County’s annual Celebration Gala has done it again, transporting guests back to the fabulous 1960s at the stunning Pendry Newport Beach. This year’s theme, “A Little Help From Our Friends,” inspired attendees to don their best retro attire, creating a vibrant atmosphere that exuded love, positivity, and community spirit. But beyond the swinging outfits and nostalgic music, the real focus was on raising awareness and funds for local foster youth, which made this gala a night to remember.
A Nostalgic Evening at Pendry Newport Beach
As you walk into the Pendry Newport Beach, the chic coastal vibes mingle with a splash of psychedelic décor reminiscent of the swinging ‘60s. Guests were greeted by the enthusiastic sounds of The Beatles and a playful Austin Powers look-alike, rounding out the mood with touches of the era’s flair. If you’ve ever thought about what it would be like to party in one of those iconic Woodstock tents, this was your chance to experience a taste of that spirit—minus the mud and rain.
If you’re looking for a unique venue for your next big event or family gathering, Pendry Newport Beach offers a luxurious setting with sweeping ocean views that surely makes it one of the premier spots in Orange County.
A Fundraising Powerhouse
The evening kicked off with a rousing combination of silent and live auctions that got everyone buzzing with excitement. From enticing dinner packages to rare collectibles and exclusive experiences, the items on the block showcased the generosity of the community and local businesses dedicated to a great cause. Proceeds from the gala exceeded $1.3 million, an impressive figure reflecting the community’s commitment to uplifting local foster youth.
CASA OC’s mission is deeply rooted in changing lives through advocacy. Their volunteers provide critical support to children in foster care, offering not just services, but meaningful connections. This gala was a shining example of how the community rallies together, demonstrating that relationships can dramatically alter the course of a child’s life.
Honoring Local Heroes
The night also took time to recognize outstanding community members who have made a significant impact. Honorees like Ruth Cochran, Advocate of the Year, and Lauren Sumner, Outstanding Foundation honoree, shared inspiring stories about their journeys and experiences with CASA OC. Andrew and Courtney Wittkop, celebrated as Children’s Champion honorees, highlighted the importance of dedicating time and energy to help those less fortunate, reminding everyone that our community thrives on compassion and support.
These moments of recognition weren’t just a feel-good add-on; they reinforced the spirit of the evening and painted a vivid picture of the lives transformed by the work of CASA OC and its volunteers.
A Family-Friendly Community Affair
While many galas can seem exclusive to adults, this event embraced a family-friendly atmosphere. Children were encouraged to attend, reminding attendees that everyone in the community, regardless of age, has a role in supporting foster youth. With engaging entertainment throughout the evening, including classic hits that inspired attendees to hit the dance floor, it became a blissful gathering for all ages.
While parents enjoyed a night out, there were numerous local sights and activities to explore for families in the area. A stroll along the picturesque Newport Beach boardwalk is the perfect way to spend time together, especially with ice cream shops and quaint eateries dotting the route.
Parking and Planning Your Visit
When attending events at Pendry Newport Beach, parking can be a concern, but it’s easily manageable. Valet services are available, or you can opt for nearby public parking lots. If you prefer a more sustainable approach, consider carpooling with friends or utilizing rideshare services to eliminate parking hassles altogether.
Planning a weekend around the gala? You’ll find that the area has plenty of attractions to enhance your experience. A day spent soaking up the sun on the pristine shores of Newport Beach or a leisurely kayak excursion in the nearby Back Bay can be the perfect complement to your evening of philanthropy.
